How do I sign up for an FSA ID and create a StudentAid.gov account?
To create an account on StudentAid.gov, you need an FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID). Good news! You already have one. It was created when you (or your guardian) applied for federal student loans.
If you’ve forgotten your account username or password, that’s OK. You can retrieve them in just a few steps.
- To retrieve your FSA ID username, follow these instructions.
- To retrieve your FSA ID password, follow these instructions.
- If you have additional problems accessing your account, read this troubleshooting guide.
- If you still can’t access your FSA ID, contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC). You can reach them by phone or live chat during their support hours. Pack a snack, because wait times may be extremely long.
- If all else fails, contact us. We can help!
